چکیده
During the past few decades, interest in understanding peculiar rheological behavior of shear-thickening fluids has increased due to their potential use various commercial applications. In such an endeavor, optimal design these is essential, which necessitates our in-depth properties from a modeling perspective. We herein introduce continuum model predict polymer solutions using non-equilibrium thermodynamics that guarantees, by construction, consistency with laws as extended handle systems. This made possible scalar structural variable characterizes formation shear-induced structure at sufficiently high shear rates, and conformation tensor deformation segments. The predicts exhibition for all steady flow material functions (shear viscosity normal stress coefficients), then followed shear-thinning if finite extensibility or anisotropic effects are considered. further document predictions line available data solutions.

Modeling Shear Thickening in Dilute Polymer Solutions: Temperature, Concentration, and Molecular Weight Dependencies
The Two Coupled Maxwell Modes (TCMM) Model is applied to give quantitative descriptions of shearthickening behavior, which can be observed under certain conditions for high molecular weight polymers dissolved in low viscosity solvents. The TCMMModel is written in terms of five parameters representing the relaxation time of each mode, the concentration of each mode, and a coupling parameter betw...

– We report the observation of dynamical behaviour in dilute, aqueous solutions of a surfactant CTAT (cetyl trimethylammonium p-toluenesulphonate), below the overlap concentration c⋆. At these concentrations, CTAT forms cylindrical micelles and shows a pronounced shear thickening transition above a concentration-dependent critical shear rate γ̇c. An analysis of the time-series of the stress rela...
متن کاملShear thickening in dilute solutions of wormlike micelles
– A new mechanism is suggested for shear thickening in dilute solutions of wormlike micelles. According to this mechanism, there is an instability above a critical shear rate, γ̇c, by which micelles aggregate to form networks of bundles. We examine the first step of this instability by studying the aggregation of two micelles into a paired bundle. The model predicts that γ̇c is given by the inver...
متن کاملShear Orientation of Viscoelastic Polymer-clay Solutions
Shear-induced structural changes in complex fluids of anisotropic species are very general phenomena, occurring in polymer solutions, liquid crystalline materials and block copolymer melts. The purpose of our work is to investigate the influence of shear on the structure of a highly viscoelastic, aqueous clay-polymer solution. Many structural models have been proposed for such solutions [1-3], ...
متن کاملStrip waves in vibrated shear-thickening wormlike micellar solutions.
We present an instability in vertically vibrated dilute wormlike micellar solutions. Above a critical driving acceleration the fluid forms elongated solitary domains of high amplitude waves. We model this instability using a Mathieu equation modified to account for the non-Newtonian character of the fluid. We find that our model successfully reproduces the observed transitions.
